Josie Hunter

Josie is a textile designer specialising in trend & colour analysis for the fashion industry, as well as textile installations for retail window displays and embroidered fabric backdrops for theatre and events. Her practice is extremely diverse and is inspired by the intrinsic qualities of colour and texture and the presence of this in everyday life.

She trained at Kingston University in textiles and then completed her BA in Embroidery at Manchester School of Art (MMU) in 2012. As a student, she was commissioned to produce an embroidered figure composition for the entrance of a New Islington apartment block in Manchester that was designed by Will Alsop. One of her embroideries was selected for an exhibition about maps and identity called Hulme Sweet Hulme in Z Arts, Hulme, Manchester.

Work placements have included designers Mary Katranzou, Vivienne Westwood, Issa, Alison Willoughby and also for the design studio The Collection.

Recent work includes:
Painted and collaged roof garden mural at Clerkenwell Parochial School.
Hand made fabric and wooden bird puppets for a Royal Mail Awards Ceremony.
Fabric Tapestry for the artist Diabel Cissokho at The Richmix Cultural Foundation.

Currently Josie is working as Studio Manager for Holbrook Studio, which is one of the world’s leading trend and style agencies, and is also the London agent for Peclers Paris.
